Providing educational support in the community of Carterton

Thank you to the Carterton Educational Trust for the funding you approved to help towards the cost of my expedition to India. It was a trip of a lifetime! Experiencing their culture was very eye opening. I enjoyed all the Indian cuisine and their transport especially the tuk tuks that were scary but fun to ride in (even though ours broke down twice). In between the shacks we saw beautifully colourful temples and buildings.
Our 6 day trek felt never ending reaching the snow fields at 4300m. We trekked for around 5 hours everyday, however on the descent we trekked for 10 hours due to a mudslide blocking our path, meaning we had to retrace our steps back up before finding another route down. The views were breathe taking and our campsites were always located in stunning locations such as by rapids. Reaching the peak was an amazing feeling of accomplishment.
Some of my highlights were riding an elephant and visiting the monkey temple in Jaipur and of course looking round the Taj Mahal in Agra which is more beautiful up close. After 3 weeks in India, although I had had an amazing time I was very happy to step back on the plane as we had all missed our home comforts.
